Two northbound lanes of the A1(M) have been closed after a lorry fire Achi-News

The National Highways reported that a car fire affected the northbound highway this morning between junctions 51 and 52. (May 25)

The agency said that the incident is expected to clear up between 9:15 and 9:30 this morning.

The fire was extinguished however, lanes 1 and 2 (of 3) remained closed at the time @NorthYorksFire monitor safety.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Bedale, Northallerton and Richmond responded to a lorry carrying non-hazardous materials which caught fire at around 5.30am.

The service reported that there were no injuries and the incident continues.

A spokesman said crews extinguished the fire using two hose reel jets, four breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera.

We will provide more information as we receive it.
