A big heartthrob came out of Tripura. Here a helpless mother was forced to sell her newborn child. Troubled by poverty, a woman sold her child for just five thousand rupees. However, the girl was later rescued and handed over to her mother.

The husband died five months ago

The woman’s husband died five months ago. After her husband’s departure, the woman began to crave food as well. For this he decided to sell his newborn child. However, following the intervention of Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhary, the four-day-old girl was fortunately rescued by a couple in Hijamera in West Tripura district and reunited with her mother.

The daughter was born on Wednesday

Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Arindam Das said, ’39-year-old Murmati Tripura of Taravan colony of Gandachera sub-division gave birth to a daughter at home on Wednesday. The next day, after the death of her husband, claiming poverty, she sold the child to a Bhijamara couple for five thousand rupees only.

Already three children

He said, ‘There are already three children, two sons and a daughter. Due to a lack of money, carrying the expenses of another child became a burden on the woman. She wondered how she would raise the child. Therefore he took the step of selling the girl. As soon as we learned about it, we immediately started an investigation. After action was taken, the next day the girl was reunited with her mother.

Das promised that help would be given to meet the girl’s expenses.

Jitendra Chaudhary shared a video

Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhary shared a video regarding this whole matter. He said that the woman admitted that she sold the girl claiming poverty. Following this, Chief Secretary JK Singh took immediate action on Friday.

Chaudhary alleged that Murmati Purnajoy’s husband used to support the family by selling wood. But he died due to lack of proper care in financial circumstances. Because of this, the family’s situation worsened. The family did not have a below poverty line (BPL) ration card.

Chaudhary criticized both the BJP government and the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) for not providing relief to the needy people.
