Tribe List Women Enrollment in Higher Education Institutions Increases 80% in 7 years Achi-News

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Women’s education took a hit in the arm as fairer gender enrollment in higher education increased by 32 per cent in seven years.

The figure for females belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe is 51 per cent and 80 per cent respectively. Moreover, the enrollment of OBC women is 49.3 percent since 2014-15 to 2021-2022. The latest government record revealed that 4.33 crore students, including 2.07 crore students, have enrolled in the 2021-22 academic session.

Of the total, 15.3 per cent students belong to Scheduled Caste, 6.3 per cent belong to Scheduled Tribe, 37.8 per cent are Other Backward Classes (OBC) and remaining 40.6 per cent students are coming from other communities. These figures are from the All India Survey for Higher Education for the session 2021-22 even as the survey for the session 2022-23 is underway.

“The enrollment of SC students has increased to 66.23 lakh in 2021-22 from 58.95 lakh in 2020-21. There is an increase of 25.4 per cent in the SC registrations since 2017-18. The overall increase in SC student enrollment since 2014-15 is 44 per cent,’ the survey revealed. The enrollment of SC female students has increased to 31.71 lakh in 2021-22 from 29.01 lakh in 2020-21. An increase of 26.6 per cent is seen in the number of women registering for SC since 2017-18. The overall increase in the number of SC girls enrolling since 2014-15 is 51 per cent.

In the case of Scheduled Tribe students, the enrollment has increased to 27.1 lakh in 2021-22 from 24.12 lakh in 2020-21. An increase of 41.6 per cent is seen in the ST enrollments since 2017-18 and the overall increase in ST student enrollments since 2014-15 is 65.2 per cent. The enrollment of ST female students has increased to 13.46 lakh in 2021-22 from 12.21 lakh in 2020-21. There has been a significant increase of 47.6 per cent in the number of women registered for ST since 2017-18 and an increase of 80 per cent since 2014-15.

The enrollment of students from Other Backward Classes has increased to around 1.63 crore in 2021-22 from 1.48 crore in 2020-21. There is an increase of 27.3% in the OBC registrations since 2017-18. There is also an overall increase of 45 per cent in the number of students registering for ABA since 2014-15.

The enrollment of OBC female students has increased to 78.19 lakh in 2021-22 from 72.88 lakh in 2020-21. There is a 27.2 per cent increase in the number of girls registering for ECE since 2017-18 and the overall increase in the number of girls registering for ECE since 2014-15 is 49.3 per cent.
