The thunderstorms that swept through Quebec on Wednesday night caused many power outages in the province.

As of 6 a.m. Thursday, Hydro-Quebec reported that more than 19,000 of its customers were without power.

Monterrey is the worst affected area, with 5,000 customers affected.

About 4,400 customers are affected in Montreal, Lorraine and Ottawa.

Hydro-Québec confirmed on social media that the severe thunderstorms were the source of the outages.

“We are mobilizing to restore power as quickly as possible. We thank you for your patience and understanding,” the Crown Corporation wrote.

The weather conditions during the last few days have helped the formation of thunderstorms, with temperatures exceeding 30 plus humidity.
