Gaza, May 25: Israel attacks Rafah contrary to the instructions of the International Criminal Court (ICJ). On Friday, the International Court of Justice ordered an immediate halt to the Israeli attack on Rafah. However, within minutes of this verdict, Israeli forces attacked Rafih again. According to Al Jazeera, the attack on the Sabura camp in central Rafah covered the area in black smoke. The severity of the attack is so high that the rescue teams stationed at the hospital are unable to reach the scene. Israeli tanks and forces are advancing towards the southeast of Rafah.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened an emergency cabinet meeting after the ICZ order. Tel Aviv ministers say that Israel will not accept this ICZ instruction. Cabinet member Benny Gantz said that they will continue to attack Hamas in order to return the abductees and ensure Israel’s security.
It should be noted that on Friday the UN Supreme Court ordered an end to Israel’s ongoing attack on Rafah in Palestine. ICZ Chief Judge Nawaf Salam said that the humanitarian situation in Rafah had “deteriorated further” since the court’s last order in March. The humanitarian situation Rafah is now defined as ‘catastrophic.’
