The president of the United States, famous for his antics, had looked directly at the Sun during a Solar Eclipse seven years ago.
If you think it was Donald Trump then you are right. The incident took place in 2017, a year after Trump took over America, it was reported Metro.
People across the US observed the ‘Great American Eclipse’, adhering to the guidelines. However, Trump did not pay attention to guidelines, which advised against staring at the sun – without the right glasses.
The Guardian’s Ben Jacobs, who was covering the event live, wrote: “At about 2:39, the President first gestured to the crowd below and pointed to the sky.”
“As he did so, one of the White House aides who was standing under the Blue Room Balcony shouted ‘Don’t look’.”
Following the president’s dangerous stunts, social media users flooded platforms with memes.
“You can’t see your approval rating if you can’t see at all,” wrote a user on X, then Twitter.
Sports journalist Dan Worthington wrote: “Scientists: Don’t look directly at the sun during an eclipse. Trump: Hold my glasses. “
Trump wasn’t the only person who tried this stunt.
Nia Payne, aged 26, saw the Sun for about six seconds as it passed over Staten Island, New York. She has now burned it into her retinas forever.
According to NASA, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States and Canada on April 8, 2024.
