These termites, which normally thrive in tropical climates, are easily reaching cities far from their natural habitat due to increased connectivity and climate change. Increasing urbanization will further facilitate the widespread spread of invasive termites in the future. The global movement of goods, including wooden furniture and other goods, shipped to remote areas allows termites to spread into homes and businesses.
