Bhaskar Dantwada News: With the changing times, some progressive farmers of the district are turning to horticultural crops other than traditional crops and they are joining other horticultural crops with modern agricultural technology. One of them is the name of 37-year-old Bhima Thalam, a resident of the village of Puro Kamli, located about 25 kilometers from the headquarters. On his land of about 2 dunams, lychee trees loaded with bright fruits have become an additional source of income. In this context Bhima says that 15 years ago he brought 10-12 lychee plants from outside and planted them in his soil on an experimental basis and took good care of them. As a result, after 7 years the lychee tree started yielding fruits which he started selling in the local markets and initially he earned more than 60-80 thousand rupees in the two months of May-June and now the situation is like this he himself takes lychees to the Bach headquarters market to me every morning and sells it at Rs 200 per kg. Due to this he earns Rs 8 to 10 thousand per day and in the last two months he earned around Rs 1 lakh. He also says that farmers who own more litchi trees earn Rs 5 to 8 lakh in a season .He is engaged in traditional agriculture but the big change has come from horticulture, because of which he has now also planted fruit trees of improved breed like mango and guava. Therefore, they no longer have to look for employment in non-seasonal days of agriculture.
