The petition of a minor seeking to terminate her 28-week pregnancy will be heard on Monday in the Supreme Court. Information about the hearing in this case is provided on the Supreme Court website. According to this, the bench of CJI DY Chandrachud and Justice JB Pardiwala will hear the matter on Monday.
Earlier, the Supreme Court heard the matter on Friday. Then the Supreme Court ordered a medical examination of the alleged 14-year-old rape victim. The minor’s mother filed a petition to the Supreme Court in the case. In this petition, an appeal was filed against the decision of the Bombay High Court, in which permission to terminate a pregnancy was refused due to late pregnancy.
On Friday, a bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice JB Pardiwala took note of the email sent by the victim and sought immediate judicial intervention. Then, around 4:30 p.m., urgent hearing procedures in the case began. Additional advocate Ishwarya Bhatti appeared in court on behalf of the central government. The bench sought a report from Sion Hospital in Mumbai regarding the physical and psychological condition of the victim. The court stated that the hospital’s medical inspector will form a medical committee and its report will be brought before the court on April 22, the next date for the hearing. The matter will be heard on Monday at 10:30 a.m. The petitioner’s lawyer said that the minor is 28 weeks pregnant and is Now in Mumbai.
