ISLAMABAD: Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi will pay an official visit to Pakistan from April 22-24, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Sunday.
This will be the first visit by any head of state after the general elections to Pakistan.
President Raisi will accompany a high-level delegation.
Iran’s presidential entourage will consist of the foreign minister, other cabinet members, senior officials and a large trade delegation.
During the visit, Raisi will meet the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan, the Chairman of the Senate and the Speaker of the National Assembly, according to the statement.
President Ibrahim Raisi will also visit Lahore and Karachi and hold meetings with provincial leaders, the Foreign Office said.
The officials will hold talks to strengthen bilateral relations, trade and cooperation in energy, agriculture and other sectors.
The parties will hold talks for cooperation on regional and global issues and bilateral cooperation to deal with the common threat of terrorism, the Foreign Ministry said.
Sources said President Raisi’s agenda includes bilateral relations, security cooperation, the gas pipeline project and exploration of potential free trade agreements.
