Also, the Ministry of Health said that the license of any hospital found to be performing organ transplants illegally or breaking the organ transplant law should be revoked.

The Ministry of Health wrote a letter to all countries

Dr. Atul Goyal, Director General of Health Services, Government of India, has written a letter in this regard to all States and Union Territories. In this letter, Dr. Goyal said that all the data of all organ transplants must be shared with the National Organization for Organ and Tissue Transplantation on a monthly basis. This should include data on the citizens of the country as well as on foreign citizens. This instruction of the Ministry of Health was discovered after the organ transplant racket was exposed Illegal in Haryana and Rajasthan where Bangladeshi people were also included.

Instructions for canceling the registration to the hospital

The Ministry of Health wrote in the letter that “there has been a jump in the number of recorded cases of organ transplants to foreign citizens in the country. In such a situation, these matters must also be examined. According to the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act (THOTA), 1994, a team appointed by the state should investigate the cases of Organ transplants done to foreign citizens in their countries. Dr. Goyal also wrote in the letter that “if the law is violated, strict measures must be taken and actions such as canceling the registration of the hospital involved in illegal organ transplants.”

Guidelines for investigation and review of organ transplant cases

The government ordered to impose an obligation to produce an identity card for both the person who donated the organ and the person who receives the organ donation. It was also requested to create such a system where government officials continue to investigate and review cases of organ transplants from time to time. The government ordered to submit reports on organ transplant cases within 15 days. On April 4, a team from the health department of Gurugram, Haryana, raided a hotel and busted a racket where people’s kidneys were removed and transplanted into patients for money.
