A young driver received a hefty fine from Laval police after they say he was driving nearly 100 mph over the speed limit.
Laval police said in a social media post Saturday that the driver, an 18-year-old man, was going 140 mph in a 50 mph zone on Daganais Boulevard last Tuesday. The driver, who had two other passengers in the car, was caught during a speed enforcement raid.
Speeding cost the driver a fine of $3,053 and 32 demerit points. His driver’s license was also suspended for seven days.
“With the return of warm weather, your officers will be out in force in the Laval area to ensure the safety of all road users,” the Laval Police Department said in a Facebook post.
