A major decision came from the High Court on the ten percent EWS reservation given to the economically weaker section in government recruitment. The Jabalpur High Court has made it clear that only ten percent of the unreserved recruitment posts can be assigned EWS reservation. The court said that SC, ST and OBC categories availing of separate reservation cannot be given the benefit of EWS reservation and reservation of ten percent of the remaining unreserved category posts will have to be given to the category EWS. With these observations, the High Court has rejected the petitions which demanded that the Education Welfare Service should retain ten percent of the total number of posts.
