The government requires digital signatures for e-office operations – Kashmir Monitor Achi-News

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government has issued a directive directing all administrative departments, Heads of Departments (HoDs), Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Managing Directors (MDs) of various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Boards and Corporations to use digital signatures (DSC) or e- Aadhar based sign/e-hastakhshars for signing notes in e-office from June 1, 2024.

Pursuant to the directive, reviewed by the Kashmir News Service (KNS), the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India, commissioned all officers with the rank of Business Officer and above or equivalent. Use Aadhaar based Digital Signature Certificates (DSCs) or e-sign/e-Hastaakshar for electronic signature of the electronic files in the e-office system before transfer.

To achieve the goal of adopting a digital work environment, reducing dependence on physical documents, and practicing adequate security measures to ensure cyber security and prevent unauthorized access to government files in the e-office, it is imperative to have digital signature or Aadhaar-based credentials. e-sign/e-Hastakshar for electronic signature and processing of notes/electronic office proposals for approval in digital mode starting from 01.06.2024.

Further, in accordance with the guidelines of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of India, and under the provision of Section 3 of the Information Technology Act, 2000, it is directed to all Administrative Departments/Head of Departments/Deputy Commissioners/Directors of various PSUs/Boards/Corporations to ensure that officers/ Officials in their respective departments will use digital signatures (DSC) or Aadhaar based e-sign/e-Hastaakshar as a mode of signing e-office notes from 01.06.2024.

The necessary support in this regard will be provided by the local JaKeGA e-office support team and the IT department. In addition, users are urged to go through the application guidelines documents available at https://docs.eoffice.gov.in or in the guide issued by JaKeGA video No. JaKeGA Gen/68/2021 dated 16.10.2023 for further clarification on the matter.
