The government introduced the Dost Traders Scheme, and it was decided to include five categories of traders in the tax net under this scheme.
The first category is for wholesalers, dealers and retailers, the second is for furniture and renovation showrooms, the third category includes jewelery and cosmetic stores, the fourth category includes grocery, medical and hardware stores, while that the fifth category includes meat, vegetable and fruit shops. Shoppers will be included as taxpayers.
In the initial phase, Tajir Dost FBR scheme will be registered in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Quetta and Islamabad, tax collection will start from July 1.
All non-filers, unregistered traders and shopkeepers under the scheme will be registered through mobile app, FBR web portal or FBR Tax Facilitation Centres, the last date of registration will be 30 April 2024.
