The full police report on a collision with a white M27 van Achi-News

Officers were alerted to the incident at around 9.40pm yesterday following “reports of a white van traveling eastbound on the westbound carriageway” on the Southampton Freeway.

This caused three separate vehicles, apart from the van, to collide with each other and a passenger in one of the vehicles suffered a broken ankle.

Following this, the police arrested a 55-year-old man from Southampton on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while incapacitated by drugs.

He has since been released under investigation, pending further inquiries.

Officers are now asking anyone with information to contact them.

He said: “We are appealing for information from anyone who was traveling on the M27, between junctions two and three, at the time.

“If you witnessed anything, or have dashcam footage that could assist our investigation, please contact 101 quoting incident number 44240187340.”

“A 55-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving a vehicle while disqualified by drugs.

“This follows reports at 9.40pm yesterday (Saturday 4 May) of a white van traveling eastbound on the westbound carriageway and three separate vehicles subsequently colliding with each other.

“A passenger in one of the vehicles suffered a broken ankle during the incident.

“We are appealing for information from anyone who was traveling on the M27, between junctions two and three, at the time.

“If you witnessed anything, or have dashcam footage that could assist our investigation, please contact 101 quoting incident number 44240187340.

“The person who was arrested has since been released for questioning, pending further investigations.”
