58 people lost their lives while attending a funeral in a country in central Africa.
According to the details, at least 58 people were killed when a boat capsized in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic.
The boat went to the last rites of a village chief but capsized shortly after the sea journey.
Thomas Demasi, a spokesman for the authorities, says the bodies of 58 people have been recovered from the sea, but we do not know the total number of people in the water.
According to eyewitnesses and videos on social media, more than 300 people were on board, some standing and some sitting on wooden structures, when the boat capsized on the Mpuku River on Friday.
The boat was on its way to the funeral of a village chief but capsized shortly after and rescuers arrived 40 minutes after the accident.
Maurice Copenia, who was on another boat due to lack of space, said he collected the bodies of some of the victims, including his sister, with the help of fishermen and residents.
Families were seen Saturday by the river looking for their loved ones who are still missing.
