According to the fire brigade officer, Kevin Cartwright, the operation continues to find around 20 people who fell from the bridge. Around 1:30 pm, a 911 call came in from the public that a cargo ship traveling from Baltimore had hit a bridge column and that the bridge had collapsed. Many vehicles have fallen from the bridge into the river.

A container ship called ‘Dally’

An emergency has arisen because of this incident. The officer said the operation was being done cautiously due to unsafe and unstable conditions. A Singaporean flagged container ship called ‘Dally’ was going from Baltimore to Colombo, Sri Lanka. The ship crashed near the Francis Scott Key Bridge. Two pilots and crew on board have been held responsible for this disaster.

The incident on the I-695 Key Bridge has closed lanes in both directions and restricted traffic, the Maryland Transportation Authority said in a statement. Mayor Brandon M. Scott and Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski said rescue operations are underway in their X counties and emergency crews are handling the situation.
