Saudi Arabia has extended the last date for Hajj visa applications to Bangladesh until May 7.

The Ministry of Religions of Bangladesh said that the flights from Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia for the upcoming Hajj will start from Thursday.

The first flight will take off from Dhaka on May 9.

Saudi news portal Sobak cited Bangladeshi reports as saying that Saudi Arabia has extended the Hajj visa application deadline for Bangladeshi pilgrims to May 7.

Earlier, the deadline was set for April 29. About 4,289 Bangladeshis have registered to participate in this year’s Haj under government arrangements, while another 78,895 have registered through the private sector.

Preparations have been completed at Islamabad International Airport under the Road to Mecca project in connection with the departure of Hajj pilgrims to the Holy Hijaz in Pakistan.

According to Islamabad airport manager, 8 Saudi immigration counters have been allocated at the airport, where the Saudi immigration team will carry out the immigration of pilgrims.

Hajj flights start from Islamabad Airport from May 9, including flights by PIA, Saudi Airlines, Air Blue, Air Sial, Serene Air, all 71 flights to Madinah and Jeddah as part of the Road to Mecca project

According to Airport Manager and Chief Operating Officer Aftab Gilani, a total of 21,000 Hajj pilgrims will transit Islamabad Airport as part of the Road to Mecca project.
