Canada’s aviation industry will work to create an efficient intake form for travelers with disabilities, the federal government says.
Disability advocates, government officials and aviation industry representatives are talking about how to improve accessibility at a summit in Ottawa today.
The summit was announced in March after airline executives testified before the House Transportation Committee, where MPs shared shocking stories from people with disabilities about the way they were treated by airlines.

At the summit, the attorneys called on the airline managers to properly implement disability initiatives.
Airline representatives noted their successes, and one told the summit that passenger surveys showed that the vast majority of passengers requiring special assistance had positive experiences.
The speakers also recognized the need for improved data sharing in the industry and standardization of procedures.
