The police took action in a case of alleged objection to female students who come to school dressed in “religious attire” in the village of Kanpali, about 250 km from Hyderabad. The Mancharial district police registered a case against the school representative and the principal in this regard.

According to the Dandapali police, based on a complaint by the students’ parents, an FIR was registered on Tuesday against the school authorities under sections 153 (a) (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion or race) and 295 (a). (A religious case was registered under IPC (insulting sentiments).

The management of the Blessed Mother Teresa High School said on Wednesday that two days ago the principal asked the students to bring their parents because they came to school wearing a saffron dress instead of a uniform.

A group of people later reportedly demanded an apology from the school administration and some angry protesters allegedly broke windows of the school on Tuesday. In this case, the protesters also asked the school representative to apologize.
