KT Rama Rao, BRS leader from Telangana, attacked the state government. He said we are alleging fraud in purchase of paddy for last 15 days. So far no action has been taken and no one has commented on it.

Lok Sabha elections are taking place in the state. So far, six rounds of elections have been held. Meanwhile, BRS working president KT Rama Rao demanded closure of over Rs 1,100 crore scam linked to the Congress government related to sale of rice and purchase of fine rice in Telangana. He exposed the scams involving Congress leaders who collected bribes from people from different walks of life and senior leaders in the ministry and in Delhi.

Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, Rama Rao said the first scam was related to tenders for the sale of 35 lakh tonnes of acid, while the second was related to the purchase of 2.2 lakh tonnes of fine rice for residential welfare hostels. He said that on January 25 a committee was appointed, that day instructions were published and tenders were invited. This clearly indicates corruption.

He also informed that local rice mill owners have given the option to buy paddy at the rate of Rs 2,100 per quintal. But the eligibility rules were changed and in the name of global tenders, Kendriya Bhandar, companies like LG Industries, Hindustan Company and Nakaf won these tenders at a price ranging from 1885 to 2005 rupees per quintal.

This price was 93 to 200 rupees less than the local price.

Rama Rao also targeted the Rs 300 crore fraud in the purchase of 2.2 lakh tonnes of fine rice for poor students studying in various welfare hostels.

He said that it is doubtful how such a big scam escaped the notice of the central government as well as the Food Corporation of India and the Central Investigation Agency.

He raised the demand that if Revanth Reddy is honest then he should probe these tenders by a sitting judge. If the central government, the FCI and the state do not respond, we will take legal action.

The BRS leader said that despite exposing the scam 15 days ago, neither Chief Minister A Rivanth Reddy nor Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy have commented on it.

He demanded that the state government immediately cancel the tender. Also acted against the companies involved in it. At the same time, he demanded that the fraud be investigated by central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate, the Central Investigations and Vigilance Department.
