Teenagers were taken to hospital after taking drugs at a Scottish school Achi-News

The women were taken by ambulance to the Royal Dumfries and Galloway Hospital where they were examined before being released.

Inspector Stewart McColm from Police Scotland said: “At around 2.10pm on Wednesday April 17, we received a report that two 13-year-old girls had taken ill following possible drug abuse at a school in Dalbeattie.

“They were both taken by ambulance to the Royal Dumfries and Galloway Hospital where they were checked before being released.

“Inquiries are ongoing and we are working with our partners to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this incident.”

A spokesperson for Dumfries and Galloway Council told STV: “We are aware of an incident that occurred yesterday involving two S2 pupils at Dalbeattie High School.

“The pupils said they felt ill late yesterday morning and told the school staff that they had both taken drugs.”

The council has been contacted for further comments.
