In a heroic attempt that made the rounds on social media, two young men sprang into action and saved two people in Triad Lake.

According to Greensboro Fire and Rescue officials, the incident happened at Higgins Lake around 2 p.m., and one of the men who was rescued had a disability.

A Greensboro man faces hit-and-run charges after crashing in front of the school, running from a deputy, the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office says 18-year-old Trey Cobb says he was guarding the lake and walked by a dock with his co-worker. Spotted two men drowning in a fishing boat that eventually capsized.

Cobb says the boat was actually on its side with two men hanging from it. The 18-year-old and his co-worker jumped into eight meters of water and held the boat aloft.

He says he realized one of the men had a disability, so he and his co-worker waded through the water and brought both men back to the dock safely.

“We grabbed one guy and pulled him out, and we just held the other guy because he couldn’t get out on his own,” Cobb said. “I’m just glad he’s okay.”

Cobb and his co-workers worked quickly. By the time first responders got there, the boat was already back at the dock.
