A complaint was filed against the electronic commerce company for employing delivery boys on the day of the vote on April 19. The election commissioner asked for answers on the matter.

The promises to provide a guarantee for voting by e-commerce companies guided them even in cases of violation of the Election Commission’s instructions. In fact, the election committee requested to strictly comply with the instructions for granting paid leave to all employees to vote on the day of the vote. But on Wednesday, a complaint was lodged with the Tamil Nadu State Election Commissioner, B Kothi Nirmalasamy. It said that even after the state government declared a holiday on April 19 on election day, Flipkart and BigBasket were guaranteeing guaranteed delivery of orders. Whereas the Department of Labor Welfare and Skill Development in Tamil Nadu has declared a paid holiday for all employees of shops, commercial establishments and industrial establishments and IT companies to increase voter turnout and participation in the democratic process.

He claimed that despite the instructions, how do online delivery platforms like Flipkart and Big Basket guarantee delivery on April 19. This is both a violation of the workers’ rights and a violation of the order. The complainant asked to investigate the e-commerce claims regarding guaranteed delivery on election day and to take appropriate steps to preserve the democratic rights of all employees.

There are guidelines for paid leave on election day.

A public holiday was declared under section 25 of the 1881 Act to facilitate the election process. This leave will be paid leave. This invitation is intended for all stores, commercial establishments and industrial establishments and all employees of IT companies.

Paid leave is only given to eligible employees

According to the information received from Flipkart after the complaint, only eligible employees receive paid leave for voting. He also said that relevant instructions for the voting day have been given by the Flipkart Group authorities. Also, many steps were taken to increase awareness regarding voting.
