Supreme Court Updates: SC refuses to entertain ex-ips officer’s plea against cancellation of nomination papers – Amar Ojla Hindi News Live Achi-News

Former IPS officer Debashish Dhar suffered a huge blow from the Supreme Court on Tuesday. The court refused to hear his petition challenging the cancellation of his nomination papers. Debashish Dhar was given a ticket by the BJP to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Birbum in West Bengal. Dhar’s nomination papers as a BJP candidate Canceled after he failed to produce a “certificate without payment”.

A bench of Justices Suriya Kant and KV Vishwanathan said that any interference at this stage would mean stalling the election process and the court was not at all ready for that. The Supreme Court also refused to accept any bias against Dahar on the part of the police officer. The court stated that the police officer acted with good intentions.

Senior attorney Nidesh Gupta, who appeared for Dahar, said that no demand was made at the time of the resignation. To this, the Supreme Court said that the mere acceptance of the resignation does not mean that there is nothing left or that the payment cannot be settled. After that, Gupta asked for permission to withdraw the case and apply to the election committee.

Earlier, the district election office canceled the candidature of a former IPS officer on a technicality. In his place, the BJP nominated senior party leader Devtanu Bhattacharya as its candidate. He also filed his nomination. -TMC will face the BJP.
