Guwahati: When Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Silchar to participate in a road show in support of BJP Silchar candidate Parimal Sokalbaidia, the town that connects many states (Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram) came to a standstill.

The road show started from Devdoot point to Rangirkhari. But most of the city’s connecting roads have been made a restricted area.

It should be mentioned that the important road that connects many areas in Kachar with the train station was blocked on the occasion of the road show.

A passenger who traveled from Silchar railway station to Bahga Bazar Diplo Das and spoke to GPlus said, "I understand that such rallies are important for elections, but the public must not be disturbed."

He added that a public gathering could be organized instead of the road show.

Similarly, many passengers complained about the situation and claimed that it was "harassed".

It should be mentioned that a few days back even Guwahati witnessed a similar situation when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited and participated in a road show.

The roadshow organized on the main road of Silchar was very busy and there was a situation like a storm in many places, said many residents of the area.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Silchar sitting member Rajdeep Roy also participated in the road show along with BJP candidate Parimal Suklabaidya.

The road show was interrupted when it reached Silchar District Hospital because of the rain. Due to this, the supporters and leaders had to leave the road show abruptly.
