Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra presented its grand annual festival of Classical Music, “Shriram Shankarlal Music Festival”


Designed and handled by Smt. Shobha Deepak Singh, Director and Vice Chairman of the Kendra, Shriram Shankarlal Music Festival is one of the oldest in the country that celebrates Indian Classical Music by presenting amazing performances by legends and established artists in the world.

The lineup for this year was again very impressive, which included Pravin Godkhindi with his young son Shadaj Godkhindi (Flute), maestro Ulhas Kashalkar (Hindustani Classical Voice), Manjiri Asanare (Vocal), legendary violinist N. Rajam with her. daughter of Sangeeta Shanker (Violin), today’s leading instrumentalist Purbayan Chatterjee (Sitar) and the famous maestro from Kolkata, Ajoy Chakrabarty (Vocal).

Through Shriram Shankarlal Music Festival, the Kendra has made a mark for itself in the world of performing arts and has been cultivating its basic ideology of binding rich Indian traditions on the wings of the present generation as it steps through the clouds of materialism. “For 7 decades, the Shriram Shankarlal Music Festival has been a platform to celebrate the timeless beauty of Indian classical music,” said Padmashri Mrs Shobha Deepak Singh. He added, “This year’s edition of the Shriram Shankarlal Music Festival fills me with immense pride. We have the privilege of experiencing the mastery of veterans alongside the brilliance of younger artists. It is a testament to the vibrant legacy of our cultural heritage.

This edition’s schedule of Shriram Shankarlal Music Festival 2024it was as follows:

– Wednesday, March 27, 2024: flute by Pravin Godkhindi and Shadaj Godkhindi at 6.30pm and Hindustani Classical Vocal by Ulhas Kashalkar at 7.45pm

– Thursday, March 28, 2024 : Voice by Manjiri Asanare at 6.30pm and Violin by N. Rajam and Sangeeta Shanker at 7.45pm

– Friday, March 29, 2024: Sitar by Purbayan Chatterjee at 6.30pm and Vocal by Ajoy Chakrabarty at 7.45pm

Wednesday, March 27, 2024: The melodious notes of Pravin Godkhindi and Shadaj Godkhindi’s flute filled the auditorium with serenity. Accompanied by the Hindustani Classical voice of Ulhas Kashalkar, the serenade captivated audiences only to ask for more. Flowing harmoniously through the hall, the stellar performance was a fitting act to highlight the 75th chapter of the Shriram Shankarlal Music Festival!

Thursday, March 28, 2024: The second day saw Manjiri Asanare singing like a nightingale of harmonious works in Hindustani Classical Music laced with soulful strumming on the Violin by N. Rajam & Sangeeta Shanker. The performance was a complete contrast to the previous show and transcended into a different world altogether.

Friday, March 29, 2024: An impressive sitar performance by Purbayan Chatterjee alongside the heartfelt vocals of Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty was the perfect way to end the festival leaving the audiences stunned by the journey they traversed through various elements of music and singing.
