Mother-of-three Tracey McCartney, Glasgow Airport Terminal Operations Manager, said: “I know from personal experience that going anywhere with a baby or toddler can be challenging and that’s especially true if you travel by plane.

“This team works extremely hard to ensure that all our passengers enjoy a safe and pleasant experience when traveling through the terminal and we wanted to create a Baby Room which would give parents a quiet place to help their support on their journey.

“We worked with the team from the Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership to ensure that the Baby Room meets all the current guidelines and we are extremely proud of the end result. I hope the new facility will make things a little easier for parents traveling with their little ones.”

To add to the welcoming atmosphere of the Baby Room, its walls display artwork generously donated by three local schools – Dargavel Primary School in Bishopton, St Charles Primary School in Paisley and Newark Primary School in Port Glasgow.

North and West Renfrewshire MSP Natalie Don was invited to the airport to officially open the Baby Room. she said. “I was delighted to open Glasgow Airport’s new Baby Room, and to hear about the progress to create safe and inclusive environments for families.

“It’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into the design of the Baby Room, ensuring that all the essentials that parents may need access to when travelling, such as bottle warmers and televisions to entertain children, are available cheaply and for free. .

“After the Airport joined the Breastfeeding Friendly Scotland scheme, I am also very pleased to see a separate room being introduced for any mothers who may wish to breastfeed their children chest in a private, quiet place.

“As a Mum of two young children myself, I know how daunting long journeys with children can be. I’m sure the Baby Room will be a great support for families and I commend Glasgow Airport for taking these steps to create a truly inclusive environment for all its passengers.”
