She believes that saree is the most beautiful dress of Indian women. She encourages women to wear saree on social media. Their aim is to promote handloom weavers sarees from all over the country through their studio and promote Indian crafts. Teaches girls to wear sarees in her studio. She even prepares the pleats of the saree and gives them to them. Know the story of saree influencer Winnie Kenny in ‘Yeh Main Hoon’…

bollywood my first love

I am from Hardoi, UP. But my childhood was spent in the different cities of the country. Papa was a marine engineer, so during his posting we lived in many cities. There was a lot of emphasis on studies in my house. I and my younger sister were good at studies. The responsibilities of the house and our two sisters were on our mother. I graduated in English.

I really like watching movies. During childhood, watching movies was our entertainment every week. A few years ago, I used to make videos on movie reviews on my Facebook page ‘Bollywood Speaks’, but when Sari Group became popular, there was no time left for movie reviews.

Wedding held in Goa

When my father was posted in Goa, I met Prasad Keni there. He is from Goa, so after marriage, I also settled in this city. I am Tandon by birth, but my parents are so open-minded that they accepted my choice and we got married.

After marriage, she became the mother of two sons. She became so busy raising children that she didn’t have time to think for herself.

Son doing business

Until last year, I was a homemaker, but my younger son Agastya made me a businesswoman at the age of 53. Saree has now become my identity, so my son said now you should start your own saree studio. I have only started my ‘Sari Speak’ studio last year.

I have no brand of my own. I buy handloom sarees from weavers across the country and promote them on social media. In my studio you will get only 95% handloom sarees. Now saree loving women have started coming to my studio to buy sarees.

We also teach girls to wear saree. If anyone needs a readymade saree, we arrange the pleats of the saree for them and provide it to them.

start from home

Earlier, when the two sons were small, I used to stay busy with them. At that time there was no time to think for myself. When the children grew up and became busy with their own work, I began to pay attention to myself. When the elder son Kashyap went to Bangalore for studies, I started having a lot of free time.

Then I realized that my mother and mother-in-law had left the saree and started wearing salwar-kameez. I thought, this way everyone will stop wearing sarees. I myself started wearing saree. Seeing me, the ladies of the house tended towards saree. My sister and niece also started wearing sarees. Then I started posting my photos on social media. When I started getting a good response, I started a Facebook group. Saree became my second identity.

I like Bengali saree

I love wearing Bengali sarees. I also like Sanganeri and Ajrak print sarees from Rajasthan. I like Ajrak print so much that I feel like keeping all the Ajrak print sarees in my own studio. Its print and motif are so beautiful that even a simple saree gives a royal look.

Saree was associated with millions of women

My Facebook group ‘Sari Speak’ has 170.5k female members from all over the world. The members of this group are women only. This group promotes sarees only. The group is not used for commercial use. Through this platform I have inspired every woman to wear saree.

I had started this group before the lockdown, but then there weren’t that many group members. In that sad closing atmosphere, women wore their best sarees at home and shared photos and videos in the group. Because of this the women’s sadness began to subside and our group moved on quickly. Made friends with girls from India and abroad. Many old lost friends were also found.

Here a theme related to saree is also kept. Motivation increases among members. Many activities take place from time to time.

I also have a lot of followers on Instagram. Many brands ask me to promote their sarees.

I promote handloom sarees

My aim is to encourage as many women as possible to wear sarees. Students have also started wearing saree in their college’s farewell function or a pre-wedding function in a friend’s wedding. Many girls also say that my other friends wear western dresses, but I want to wear saree only so that I can look different from everyone.

I also keep the budget in mind while picking sarees. I don’t understand why women feel uncomfortable wearing a saree. Once you know how to wear a saree, it takes only 5 minutes to wear the saree.

like my comedy

I also do comedy wearing a saree in my videos, because people like my content. I started during the Covid period when I got Covid myself. I was locked in the room. To keep myself busy, I started making comedy videos wearing a saree. People started liking my videos, which boosted my confidence and also entertained me.

saree gave me an identity

Saree has kept me busy for the last eight years. Many women message me that they too have started wearing sarees after seeing you. Weavers say we have been promoted because of you, our sales have increased. Hearing all this gives me courage to do more work. On 14th April we celebrate our group’s eighth anniversary.
