Removal of DGP Rajendranath due to complaints
Amaravati: Sankhabrata Bagchi has taken charge as DGP-in-charge of Andhra Pradesh. There were allegations that Rajendranath Reddy was working in favor of the ruling YCP. He was immediately removed from office by the Election Commission. Sankabarta will be the acting DGP until a new DGP is appointed.
Rajendranath Reddy was removed from office by the Election Commission on Sunday following allegations that he was working in favor of the ruling YCP. Asked to send the names of the officers to the post of DGP. With this, the state government has sent the names of three senior IPS officers namely Dwarka Tirumala Rao, Madhirdi Pratap and Harish Kumar Gupta. The Election Commission is likely to inform Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary KS Jawahar Reddy who will be the new DGP. Till then , Sankhabrata Bagchi will be the in-charge DGP of the state.Sankhabrata has served as the SP of Kurnool district.He has earned a good reputation for maintaining peace and security.
