Those traveling in and around Montreal this weekend should be aware that the construction work will cause some route closures.
In particular, the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel between Montreal and the South Shore will be closed at night and will likely cause traffic to back up on several lanes.
Ville-Marie Expressway (R-136)
From Friday midnight until late fall, the following closures will be in effect:
- On the Ville-Marie highway (R-136) to the east, the exit from Guy Street (3).
Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel (A-25)
From Thursday at 9:00 PM to Friday at 5:00 AM and from Friday at 11:00 PM to Saturday at 8:00 AM, the following closures will be in effect:
towards the south
- Between Montreal and Longueuil, Highway 25 southbound, between Exit 5 (R-138, Sherbrooke Street, Hochelaga Street) and the l’Île-Charron Street entrance.
northbound
- Between Longueuil and Montreal, Route 25 northbound, between Exit 90 (R-132, La Prairie, Varennes) on Route 20 westbound and the Notre Dame entrance eastbound.
As a result, the following closures are default:
- The entrances Tellier and des Futailles (already closed long-term).
- Highway 132 east and west (Exits 89-N) to Highway 25 North.
- The entrance to rue l’Île-Charron.
Solini Avenue (Montreal)
From Thursday at 8:30 p.m. to Friday at 5 a.m. and from Friday at 10:30 p.m. to Saturday at 8 a.m., the following closure is in effect:
- In the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve arrondissement, Avenue Souligny eastbound between rue Dickson and rue Honoré-Beaugrand.
Avenue de Lorimier (Montreal)
- In the Ville-Marie district, two of three lanes will be closed on Avenue de Lorimier northbound, between Avenue René-Levesque and Rue Sainte-Catherine on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Bonaventure Highway (A-10)
- In the Sud-Ouest district of Montreal, one of two lanes will be closed on the Bonaventure Freeway (A-10) westbound (toward downtown), at the Clement Bridge (Île des Soeurs), from Friday at 8:00 p.m. to Saturday at noon.
Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier Boulevard (R-116)
- In the Saint-Hubert district of Longueuil, at Exit 4 of Boulevard Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier (R-116) eastbound, the Route-112 Eastbound / Cousineau Boulevard ramp will be closed from Friday at 8:00 PM to Wednesday at 8:00 PM.
REM light rail line (Metropolitan Express network)
- On Saturday April 20, REM service will be unavailable between 5:30am and 7:30am due to a systems update. Buses will provide the service during this time.
Cote-Verteau Blvd
- In Montreal’s Saint-Laurent borough, Cote-Verteau Boulevard will be closed between the Highway 40 eastbound service road and Monte de Lyssa from midnight Saturday to midnight Sunday.
Avenue Papineau / Jacques Cartier Bridge
- In Montreal’s Ville-Marie district, one of two lanes will be closed from the southbound entrance of Avenue Papineau towards the Jacques-Cartier Bridge on Sunday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Route 520 East (Côte-de-Liesse), at 43rd Ave
- As of Monday, April 22, the restoration of the overpasses on Route 520 over 43rd Avenue will begin. This work, which will be carried out in 2 stages, will continue until the end of 2025.
Route 20 (Mekorot Interchange)
- Repair work on the Highway 20 (Souvenir) ramps of the Sources Interchange in Pointe-Claire will continue until the end of 2024.
Highway 520 / Hickmore Street
- The restoration works of the highway 520 (Côte-de-Liesse) bridge over Hickmore Street will continue until the end of 2024.
Highway 55 / Laviolette Bridge (Trois-Rivières)
- From Friday at 8:00 p.m. to Monday at 6:30 a.m., two of the four lanes on the Laviolette bridge will be closed between Trois-Rivières and Bécancour. One lane will be open in each direction.
