Riyan Parag shines as RR Triumph Over RCB in IPL Eliminator Achi-News

Guwahati: In a thrilling clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Rajasthan Royals (RR) batsman Ryan Parag continued his impressive run in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Farag’s decisive knock of 36 off 26 balls, which included two fours and two sixes, came at a strike rate of 138.46. His performance vaulted him to the third spot in the list of uncapped players with the most runs in a single IPL season.

Throughout the season, Farag scored 567 runs at an average of 56.70 and a strike rate of 151.60. He also scored four half-centuries, with his highest score being an unbeaten 84. Farag is currently the third highest scorer of the season.

The record for most runs by an uncapped batsman in a single IPL season is held by RR’s Yashaswi Jaiswal, who scored 625 runs in 14 matches during the 2023 season at an average of 48.07 and a strike rate of 163.61. Australian batsman Shaun Marsh is second on the list with 616 runs in 11 matches during the 2008 season at an average of 68.44 and a strike rate of 139.68.

Farag also holds the distinction of scoring the third most runs for the Royals in a single season. The highest runs in a single season by a RR batsman was scored by Jos Buttler in the 2022 season, with 863 runs in 17 matches. Jaiswal follows him with his 625 runs in 2023.

Additionally, Prag has the second most runs by batting at four and under in a single IPL season. The top spot belongs to Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant, who scored 579 runs in the 2018 season while batting in the middle order.

In the match, RR won the toss and elected to ball first. RCB posted a total of 172/8 in their 20 overs, with Rajat Patidar, Virat Kohli and Hipal Lumrour emerging as the top scorers. Abhash Khan was the standout bowler for RR, supported by fine performances from Ravichandran Ashwin and Trent Boult.

During the run chase, RR got off to a strong start with a 46-run partnership between Yashaswi Jaiswal and Tom Coller-Cadmore. Despite pressure from the RCB bowlers, Parag held one end before being dismissed, allowing Shimron Tammeer and Robman Powell to secure a four-wicket win for RR with a lead.

Ashwin was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for his amazing performance. RR will now face Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2 on May 24 in Chennai to determine who will play Kolkata Knight Riders in the final on May 26.
