The 10th installment of the Pakistan Premier League (PSL) is tentatively scheduled for April-May next year.
Inside information suggests that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has proposed a schedule between April 8 and May 20 for PSL franchises. This, however, is in line with the regular schedule of the Indian Premier League.
The proposed window was chosen considering the availability of the players and the need to manage their workload effectively.
In addition, the PCB plans to give every franchise an opportunity to recruit a marquee player for the next edition of the tournament. These standout players are expected to be signed in the next few months. Furthermore, the PCB plans to provide financial assistance to franchisees for recruiting these marquee players.
In other news, PSL commissioner Naila Bhatti is said to have resigned from her post, a decision the PCB has accepted.
Naila, a member of former PCB Chairman Najam Sethi’s team, was said to have quit the post due to disagreements with board officials.
Earlier this year in March, Islamabad United won the ninth season of the PSL by defeating Multan Sultans by two wickets at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
Under the leadership of Shadab Khan, Islamabad claimed their third PSL championship, having previously won in 2016 and 2018, thereby cementing their status as the most successful team in the history of the tournament.
The nail-biting finale was decided on the very last ball when Hunain Shah stepped in with just one run needed. The young player cleverly saw a gap and hit the ball for four, securing the win.
