Former England cricketer Stuart Broad called Bengaluru an unbalanced team after they defeated Kolkata at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday, March 29. Speaking to Star Sports on Friday, Broad raised questions on RCB’s bowling.
Kolkata continued their dominance at RCB’s home ground and registered their sixth consecutive win at the stadium. They were also the first away team to win a game at the opponents’ home ground this season.
RCB suffered their second defeat of the season as KKR registered a comfortable 7-wicket win.
RCB’s bowling is no match for their batting – Broad
Broad believes RCB’s bowling is not as strong as their batting. Broad said, you will praise KKR if they win. However, you also have to look at RCB’s bowling, the way KKR used cutters and slow balls on slow pitches.
Due to the slow ball, batting was also very difficult for Virat Kohli, who was unable to time the ball consistently throughout. He could play the fast bowlers better. On the other hand, RCB’s bowling was bad.
Broad said, the same is happening with RCB. I think their batting has been strong for many years, and they have star power, but their bowling still doesn’t look capable of winning them games. This seems to be a slightly unbalanced team.

KKR attacked the RCB bowlers in a powerplay
Despite RCB’s excellent start in the powerplay, the pitch had gone sluggish and the batsmen, including Virat Kohli, were struggling to hit big shots. With Kohli’s innings of 83 runs RCB went to a good score of 182 runs. Broad said that the RCB bowlers were not maintaining the right length and hence the KKR batsmen were continuously attacking. KKR’s Andre Russell and Harshit Rana kept the ball in line and kept RCB’s batting under control. On the other hand, RCB bowlers could not do this.
