- Raipur Lok Sabha seat… BJP has 8 MLAs and Congress has only 1 in Raipur Lok Sabha seat with nine constituencies. Apart from the four seats of Raipur, these include Abhanpur, Arang, Darsiva, Baludbazar and Bhattapara. Of these, only the Bhattapara seat is with the Congress, while all the remaining eight seats are held by BJP MLAs. Raipur is a category C seat of the Congress as the Congress is eager to open its victory account here. BJP’s Sunil Soni won the last election by 3.48 thousand votes.
Along with Durg, Raipur is included in the largest Lok Sabha constituency in the country. It has 9 assemblies and there are about 24 lakh voters. In this election, influential Bharatiya Janata Party leader Brijmohan Agarwal is the candidate from here, while the Congress has given ticket to former Ripur West MLA Vikas Upadhyay. Brijmohan is currently a Member of Knesset from South Ripor for the seventh time.
He won the last election for the closest assembly in the country.
