The union for shop and office workers at the Quebec Alcohol Council, Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ) has announced two days of strike action, Wednesday and Thursday, unless there is a significant breakthrough at the bargaining table by then.

If this continues, these will be the first two days of a strike under the 15-day strike mandate given to union members.

The union represents about 5,000 workers in various SAQ branches.

The main points of contention include adding permanent jobs, access to insurance and access to training.

The salary question has not yet been addressed, say the union, attached to the Federation of Public Service Employees affiliated with CSN.
