Quebec provincial police handed out hundreds of fines to members of the Hells Angels and other supporting motorcycle clubs who met for their “first run” in a small town near Sherbrooke, Que.

Surete du Quebec (SQ) spokesman Louis-Philippe Roel said more than 300 fines were issued for multiple offenses mostly related to the highway safety code in Saint-Denis-de-Brompton in the eastern city.

Several fines were issued, Roel said, after bikers used abusive language against police officers, who set up a day-and-night roadblock near where they met.

La Perce reporter Daniel Renault, who specializes in organized crime, told Novo Info that all members of Quebec are expected to participate in the first run.

“I’ve been told by both the police and the criminal community that this will be a normal first run. In other words, we expect to see exactly the same number of people as last year, and without a show of force. That’s the case every time, it’s a show of visibility,” he said.

No arrests were made.
