The Election Commission has ruled in the Supreme Court that its requirement to upload voting data to its website within 48 hours of voting for each phase of the Lok Sabha elections is unreasonable. In fact, this demand was raised in the Supreme Court by the non-governmental organization Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). The Election Commission claimed that this action could worsen the election situation.
What did ADR say in her petition?
A vacation bench of Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma is set to hear the ADR petition in this case. In the ADR petition there was a demand to give instructions to the election committee in this matter. The petition states that information on all polling stations must be uploaded immediately after voting. ADR also demanded that copies of Form 17C (recorded vote account) be uploaded of the polling stations immediately after voting.

The election committee submitted to the court an affidavit in this regard. The affidavit states that uploading the survey data to its website within 48 hours could lead to disturbances in the entire election sector as the possibility of sabotage increases. The affidavit states that Form 17C cannot be uploaded publicly as there is no such provision under the law. The Election Commission also alleged that some people are making baseless and false claims every time by creating an atmosphere of doubt during the election. This is so that the election committee can be discredited.
Let us tell you that on May 17, ADR filed a petition with the Supreme Court. After that, the Supreme Court asked for a response from the Election Commission within a week.
