ISLAMABAD (Zubair Kasuri) According to sources in charge of the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP), the PTCLU Telephone Group approved phase one of the acquisition of the foreign company Telenor yesterday.
CCP has completed all the actions in this regard, the managers of both companies have also been informed yesterday
Both the companies have been notified to complete further process and documents for phase two, the sources further said that the process would be completed very soon. It should be noted that UPhone currently has 2.3 million customers in Pakistan while Telenor has 3.4 million customers in Pakistan.
When these companies are merged, there will be more than 67 million mobile phone users, this process will promote the trend of competition in the mobile phone industry in Pakistan and further improve the coverage.
