Protesters laid siege to Kataka HM’s residence demanding punishment for the killer of MCA students

Bengaluru: Members of the ABVP and Hindu activists staged protests across Karnataka on Saturday condemning the murder of MCA student Neha Hiremath. They also demanded the death penalty for the accused, Fayaz Kondikopa.

High drama prevailed at the residence of Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara when ABVP members tried to lay siege to the house. The protesters burnt pictures of the accused Fiyaz and demanded that he be hanged.

The police detained the members for holding a protest without permission and removed them from the place.

Hindu activists staged protests over the murder in Ramanagar, Kalboragi and Vijayapura districts. The protesters burned tires, effigies and pictures of Fayez.

BJP MP BY Raghavendra who is contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Shivamogga constituency on Saturday stated in the constituency that the accused killed Neha after consuming ganja.

After the incident the Congress government should have given protection to Neha’s family, instead, they gave protection to the accused’s family, said BY Raghavendra.

“The Prime Minister and Home Minister have given statements that the case is a personal matter. By giving a personal angle, they want to spin the case,” Raghavendra claimed.

His comment came hours after the interior minister apologized for his “in love” words in the affair.

Speaking to reporters, Home Minister Parameshwara said on Saturday that if at all his statements regarding the case hurt the feelings of Neha’s parents, he would regret making the statements.

In another development, Neha’s pictures with Fiyaz surfaced on social media and went viral.

Meanwhile, her family reacted strongly to claims that Fiyaz and Neha wanted to get married. Niranjan Hiremath, Neha’s father flatly denied the allegations in this regard.

“There was no matter of marriage. Now, the story is being made and told. The accused may have thought of marrying my daughter. My daughter Neha never thought of it and she would not have met the tragic fate if she had agreed. I condemn this development,” he said.

Geetha, Neha’s mother stated that her daughter was a bold and intelligent girl and said that everything related to her relationship with the killer is false.

“Our daughter’s soul will rest in peace only if the murderer is hanged to death. First of all, give protection to the girls. What if our girls who are sent to college come back in the form of corpses,” she said.
