Congress National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra arrived in Assam on Tuesday to campaign in support of Congress candidate Gaurav Gogoi from Jorhat Lok Sabha seat. Vadra participated in a one-hour road show in Titbur in the district. During this, he said that the daily wages of the tea garden workers would be increased if the opposition alliance wins the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The ruling party wants to change the constitution

During the road show, the Congress leader claimed that the ruling party wants to change the constitution and if that happens, the common people in the country will suffer the most. She said, ‘Two or three years ago, before the assembly elections, I came to Assam and visited the tea gardens. At that time it was promised that if the Congress government was formed then we would raise the wages. However, you chose BJP and the salary was not increased.

A guarantee to increase workers’ wages

Vadra further said, ‘I tell you again that in our manifesto there is a guarantee to increase the wages of the tea garden workers if the government is formed at the center.’ Apart from this, he also claimed that if the ruling party comes to power for the third time, it will change the Indian constitution and the common man will have to face the most problems after the curtailment of rights.

Unemployment is at its peak

Supporting Gogoi, Rahul Gandhi said that when BJP leaders come to campaign, they talk about useless issues. Although Gaurav Gogoi always raised people’s issues. While attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress leader said that unemployment is at its peak, but the Prime Minister spoke about it only twice in a recent interview. He said, ‘If you want to control inflation then vote for Congress. Please do not vote on religion and caste issues. Time to teach a lesson.

These leaders were also present during the road show

All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra landed at the Jorhat airport this morning and headed straight to Titburo, the rallying point of former chief minister Tarun Gogoi and part of the Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency. After that, Vadra, along with Gogoi, state Congress chief Bhupan Kumar Bora, Congress secretary and Assam in-charge Jitendra Singh, Leader of Opposition Debbarata Saikia and other senior leaders, started his road show from Titabor Chariyali.

Make life difficult for people

Before the start of the road show, Vadra said on social media platform X, “Northeastern states have their own unique culture and historical heritage. The BJP government has imposed its own rules on this heritage, besides, inflation and unemployment have made it difficult for the people. Congress’s five guarantees of justice will not only deliver relief for the public but also strengthen the future of the youth and the country.

Notably, in Jorhat, Gogoi has direct competition with sitting BJP MP Tapan Kumar Gogoi. Voting will take place in the first phase in Jorhat on April 19.
