Privatization of PIA, ban on flights to European countries is likely to be lifted next month Achi-News

Islamabad (Newsdesk) Before the privatization of the national airline “PIA”, an important meeting of the board of directors of the holding company was held where it was informed that the ban on PIA flights in European countries is likely to be lifted next month.

The PIA Board meeting was chaired by Tariq Bajwa for three hours in Salamabad, where the department briefed on the preparations relating to the privatization of PIA and the assets including hotels in Paris and the Netherlands.

According to the sources, the meeting was also briefed about PIA employees and it was also said that the ban on PIA flights in European countries is likely to be lifted next month.

PIA officials say that the restoration of flights will increase the interest of investors, the restoration work in European countries will bring PIA billions of rupees annually.

At the meeting, the board was briefed on the latest details regarding PIA’s restructuring, while privatization and sale of routes including the airline’s aircraft were also considered.

PIA Holding Company Board meeting proposed divestment of PIA assets and also briefed on recent measures related to Roosevelt Hotel in Paris, Netherlands, USA.

Additional PIA employees were also proposed to be made redundant under the Voluntary Retirement Scheme.
