A special court in Mumbai has reprimanded BJP MP from Bhopal Pragya Singh Thakur in the Malgaon bomb blast case. Angered by his non-appearance during the hearing of the case, the special MLA court told the MLA that his continued absence during the hearing was causing problems in the hearing. Not only this, the special court also sought a report from the NIA regarding the BJP MP’s health. Let us tell you Shafagya Singh Thakur is the main accused in the Malgaon bomb blast case.

In fact, BJP MP Pragya Thakur, through her lawyer, sought exemption from performing citing health issues. After that, the court expressed its displeasure and gave this order. Special Judge AK Lahoti asked the NIA to confirm Pragya Thakur’s health and submit a report. For this, the court gave time till April 8 to the NIA.

During the hearing held today, the BJP MP’s lawyer again demanded exemption. She claimed that Pragya Thakur was suffering from cervical spondylitis and migraine. In her application submitted to the court it was stated that her physical condition was out of control, she is undergoing treatment at her home in Bhopal on the advice of doctors. The lawyer said that the doctor advised him to rest and along with the request, permission was also given.

During which NIA also presented its side in the court. The central agency told the court that since Pragya Thakur was not in Mumbai at the time, she could not corroborate her claims. The investigating agency also stated that the preliminary instructions given by the court are known to his lawyers. In such a situation, the delay in hearing the case results from the non-appearance of the accused.

It is pertinent to note that on March 11, a bail order of Rs 10,000 was issued against Pragya Thakur for not appearing during the hearing even after being specifically directed by the court. However, it was canceled on March 22. Granting exemption, the court directed Thakur to appear on April 3. She also warned that if she does not appear at the appointed time, a non-bailable warrant will be issued against her. Despite the court’s instructions, she did not appear.

What does it matter

The National Court of Investigation (NIA) is now recording the statements of the accused under CrPC. On September 29, 2008, six people were killed and more than 100 injured when an explosive device exploded on a motorcycle near a mosque in Malgaon city, about 200 km from Mumbai in northern Maharashtra. The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad initially investigated the case before it was handed over to the NIA in 2011.
