The ongoing investigation into the murder of Bangladesh MP Anwarul Azim Anar has taken a new turn. In fact, West Bengal Crime Investigation Department (CID) officials claimed on Saturday that there could be a gold smuggling angle behind his murder.

The investigators claimed that a rift over gold smuggling between Anar and his friend (a US citizen and his business partner) may be the reason for the crime. A senior CID official also said that finding Anar’s body would not be an easy task as it had been cut into about 80 pieces and dumped in several places About 12 days ago.

According to him, the murder may be the result of a rift between Anar and his American friend. The state CID official said we are investigating this aspect as well. The remains of the investigating agency continued to search for the body parts of the Bangladesh MP in a canal in Bangar in South 24 Parganas district, where the arrested butcher had taken them, the official said.

The body parts were packed in plastic bags and thrown into the canal, he said. The meat can also be eaten by fish and other animals. We deployed divers to look for them. The CID official said the arrested butcher confessed to cutting the body into eighty pieces before disposing of the MP at different places in Bangar.

He said the CID officials are also being assisted by a taxi driver who took the accused to various places before dropping them near Bangaon. According to reports, Anar arrived in Kolkata on May 12 for medical treatment. Gopal Biswaz, a resident of Barnagar, Kolkata, and his friend filed a complaint with the local police on May 18. When he arrived here, Anar stayed at Biswaz’s house.

In his complaint, Biswaz said that Anar left his home in Bengar for a doctor’s appointment on the afternoon of May 13, and said he would return home for dinner. Biswaz claimed to have filed a missing complaint after the Bangladeshi MP could not be contacted.
