Maharashtra Pradesh Congress president Nana Patul on Saturday accused Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis of using government machinery to target and defame his opponents. Citing an interview of former BJP MP Kirit Somaiah, Patul said that this interview exposed such deceptive politics that tarnishes the heritage of Maharashtra.

In fact, in an interview, Somaiya said that in 2017, Fadnavis asked him to aggressively target Uddhav Thackeray, who was an ally of the BJP at the time. Somaiah claimed in an interview that this led Thackeray to put pressure on the BJP not to give him a Lok Sabha ticket in 2019.

He said that in these 10 years, BJP worked to eliminate the opposition through politics of revenge and deceit. Patul further said that Somaiya’s interview revealed this truth. He also alleged that Somaiah used to accuse opposition leaders of corruption and then take action by central agencies like ED, CBI and Income Tax Department. Because of this, many leaders got fed up with this blackmail and joined the BJP.
