in light of: The Punjab Institute of Cardiology in Lahore is facing a severe shortage of beds, resulting in patients being treated in hospital corridors or even on footpaths, ARY News reported.

The situation in the emergency room is worse because patients are treated in wheelchairs due to a lack of available beds. ARY News has obtained a video in which the patients can be seen receiving the drips while lying on a walkway.

Despite the provincial government’s claims to provide better healthcare facilities, hospital sources confirmed that no additional beds have been provided to the emergency department.

The lack of interest of the Ministry of Health leads to a lack of space for patients. The Medical Superintendent of the Punjab Institute of Cardiology is not aware of the shortage of beds.

The sources said that the hospital was recently renovated, but a huge amount of money was spent on beautification, but the number of beds was not increased.
