19 people died in a road accident in Bapani in the Kokdur police station area. When Bhaskar investigated this, many facts came to light, the biggest fact of which is that there is no public transport facility in the forest and rural areas of the district. For this reason, goods vehicles are used the most in these areas.
It is worth noting that people get goods vehicles at low rates. This is the reason why such vehicles are used. The second big fact is that these freighters have been widely used in rural and forest areas for the past few years. The police and the transport department do not take any action on the matter. Many times in Naxal affected areas, police personnel engaged in Naxal operations also travel in such cargo vehicles. Now, after the issue of road accidents has arisen throughout the country, the police and the transportation department have been working for the past two days. The Sahaspar Lohra police collected a summons fee of Rs 8,000 from two such van drivers. At the same time, the transportation department also parked two vans and a vehicle that transported people in a tractor-trolley at the police station in Budla. The driver’s license of these three drivers was revoked and the vehicle registration was cancelled. So far, measures have been taken against the operators of passenger vehicles in a total of 14 goods vehicles.

Public transport facility is available till Kui-Kukdur, Neur, Kamathi, Kodavagodan. Here too only two to four buses are available per day. {Budla Block: Most of this block falls in Venanchal area. The Block National Highway passes through Pondi, Budla and Chilpi. A place where buses are available 24 hours a day. After that, there are only three buses from Chilpi to Jungle Rangakkar and two buses from Bodela to Daldali. which rises and falls during the day. There is no public transport facility in a dozen villages of this block including Ranidra, Sarif, Bukharkar, Budalpani, Jamonpani.
Before 2018, the then BJP government started city bus for the convenience of public transport. The municipal bus facility is currently closed. Therefore the use of trucks began to increase. Bus operator Karen Banjara said passengers are not available in rural and forest areas. Municipal CMO NK Verma said that the municipal bus is operated by the Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation. A separate committee was also established for this purpose. A letter has now been written to the Municipal Corporation Commissioner of Rajnandgaon to restart all the buses.
