Sargodha: An incident of blasphemy against the families of the minority community (Communal Violence) has taken place in Pakistan on the charge of desecrating the Quran.

In Pakistan’s Punjab province, a group of Muslims attacked minority Christian families accusing them of blasphemy, and in this case charts were also attacked. Apart from that, it has been learned that a group of enraged Muslims started a riot by throwing stones and bricks at the police.

According to Arab News, five members of the Christian community were seriously injured in the incident in the Sargodha area and were admitted to a local hospital. Sargodha District Police Chief, Shariq Kamal, has given a response on this matter, saying that a group of extremists attacked Christians accusing them of blasphemy. He also said that stones and bricks were thrown at the police.

According to a statement from police spokesman Akmal Bhatti, the protesters set fire to at least one house and a shoe factory. The group gathered after being accused by neighbours. Bhatti said extremists burned his house and fatally attacked many Christians after the minority community accused them of desecrating the Koran, the Muslim holy book.

Videos posted on social media showed protesters burning houses, property and looting. Other people were seen throwing things at the bonfires on the road. Meanwhile the lives of the Christian community are at risk, where blasphemy is a sensitive issue in fundamentalist Muslim-majority Pakistan, where even an accusation can lead to street killing, Pakistan’s Independent Human Rights Commission said.
