One lakh 30 thousand tons of solid waste was disposed of in Lahore Achi-News

Lahore Waste Management Company (Web Desk) Lahore (LWMC) has claimed that it collects 130 thousand tonnes of solid waste from different parts of the city and disposes it at the Mehmood Boti Landfill. According to LWMC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Babar Sahib Deen, the solid water also includes 25,000 tonnes of water collected from around 400 open spaces.
The CEO told the media that apart from removing construction debris from 245 locations in the city, LWMC teams also demolished green belts and other open spaces.

He said mechanical cleaning of 16,000 km long roads and mechanical washing of 1100 km roads were also completed in the month long campaign.
He said 432 challenges were issued during the campaign for violations of the Local Government Act, resulting in fines of over Rs. 9 lakh, while 77 FIRs have been registered and more than 300 complaints have been redressed.

The CEO claimed that at least 268 of the 274 union councils of Lahore during the campaign achieved zero waste status. We encourage citizens to support the ongoing cleaning efforts and LWMC Report sanitation concerns through helpline 1139 or platforms social media.

Meanwhile, he said the LWMC team had focused on all the 21 rural Urban Service Centers in Lahore on the last day of the campaign. Apart from this, mechanical work is going on in Siraj Park, Pracha Colony and Saeed Park in Shahdara and Nishtar Town. Special attention was paid to areas such as Kamahan, Atari Saroba, Yohanabad, Dulu Khurd and Ashiana Road. He said that mechanical sweeping work was also being done to further improve the quality of cleanliness in Bagrian, Township and Green Town.

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) teams severed 182 more connections while imposing a fine of Rs 1 crore 7 lakh for gas theft and other illegal activities. According to the spokesperson, the regional team in Lahore disconnected two connections for illegal use of gas and three others for using compressors. In Multan, four connections were disconnected for illegal use of gas and nine more connections were disconnected for use compressors.

SNGPL teams disconnected one connection in Sahiwal, four in Gujarat, one in Faisalabad, nine in Bahawalpur and two in Gujranwala for illegal use of gas.

The teams also levied a total fine of Rs 0.08 million against the gas thieves.
